EPS One Step Closer to Reconstruction of All 10 Generators at HPP Djerdap 2 – Project Documentation Prepared, Environmental Impact Assessment Study up for Inspection

Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS) is a step closer to the long-awaited overhaul of all ten generators at the Hydro Power Plant Djerdap 2.

Let us remind that, in 2017, it was announced that an overhaul of all the generators would be done in the next 10 years, and, as part of this reconstruction, they have now submitted to the Ministry of Environmental Protection a request for the authorization of the Environmental Impact Assessment Study of the project of revitalization, modernization and the increase of the power and the efficiency ratio of the production generators of the HPP Djerdap 2.

As said in the request, the HPP Djerdap 2 is the second joint Serbian-Romanian hydro power plant on the Danube and, like the previous one, this HPP is a complex, multi-purpose hydrotechnical facility, which consists of two power plants, two added power plants, two spillway dams and two navigation locks, whereby both the Serbian and the Romanian side owns one each of said facilities.

The preliminary design was prepared by Energoprojekt – Hidroinzenjering a.d. in December 2021 and, based on that design, the description of the project in this Environmental Impact Assessment Study was prepared.

The inspection of the Environmental Impact Assessment Study lasts for the next 20 days.
