On old external disposal site and closed mines in Cirikovac, Klenovnik and Drmno, Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS) will set up its first wind farm with 20 wind generators with a total power of 66 megawatts. The wind farm Kostolac is expected to produce 151 million kilowatt-hours of electrical energy a year.
– An internal traffic route is currently under construction. The works are intensive and, in addition to that, the project documentation is being prepared for the execution of the works related to the main equipment. Geomechanical research is also in progress as a pre-requirement for the project for the funding for the tender – says Predrag Djordjevic, the head of the Wind Farm Kostolac project.
Auxiliary facilities, substations and a power line need to be built for the operations of the wind farm. The entire project is financed with the proceeds from the credit of the German Development Bank, and the wind generators will be supplied by Siemens Gamesa.
– Following the geomechanical research of the ground, we will start building the foundations in early January. The deadline for the completion of the works is 853 days, according to the agreement, which means that the deadline for the completion of the works is September 2024, after which we will start the process of getting the exploitation permit until the end of 2024 – Djordjevic adds.

Electrical energy from RES planned in Stig as well
Electrical energy from renewable sources is also being planned in Stig near Klicevac. At the latest session, the City Assembly of Pozarevac adopted the decision to prepare the Detailed Regulation Plan for the construction of a wind farm and a solar power plant with a total power of 150 megawatts.
– Based on the letter of intent they’ve sent us, the city should have a 2% income from the production of electrical energy and also, in the implementation part of the project, some EUR 225,000 should be invested in the infrastructure – points out the mayor of Pozarevac, Sasa Pavlovic.
It is only with the planning documentation that the territory and the coverage of the future wind generators and the solar power plants will be defined in more detail.
