The multimillion investment in the innovative technology RCB Nanotehnologija d.o.o. in Vogosca is in the final stage and will start working soon.

This was said in Sarajevo at the “Talks About the Future” within the Sustainable Development Week 2022 in Bosnia and Herzegovina, dedicated to circular economy, as reported by Nezavisne, citing Indikator.

Hanadi Dzabic, the director of RCB Nanotehnologija and one of the founders of the parent company RCB Nanotechnologies GmbH in Germany, which has patented the technology of extracting black carbon from materials at the end of their life cycle, said that, within Free Zone Vogosca, RCB Nanotehnologija had founded the Technology Development Center for the processing of pearl-like carbon from non-usable materials.

– Black carbon, the powder produced during the combustion of fossil fuels, can be found in car tires, plastic, printers, and as such harms the environment. Three years ago, we realized that the recycling of old tires produces oil, gas and iron, but not black carbon of the desired purity and usability, which means that the circular process is not rounded. We did some research, found a way and patented the technology that provides us with high-purity black carbon – Dzabic clarified.

The project and the technology are based on the agreement with the Fraunhofer institute for applied construction, which is the owner of the patent and which will cooperate in the future on the verification and upgrading of the project which is to be developed in Vogosca.

– We intend to expand our activities to several countries of the world, aiming at 15% of the global production of black carbon. Also, we are working on researching how to reduce the toxicity in the production of batteries for electric cars, by producing a different, more sustainable kind – Dzabic adds.
