The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has published the public invitation for the construction of an irrigation system in Svilajnac, which is carried out within the Serbian Climate Resilience and Irrigation Program (SCRIP), which is financed from a part of a the EBRD credit.

The construction of the irrigation system is split into two parts. Part A, with an area of 330 ha, will be supplied with ground waters from shallow boreholes, and for Part B, with the remaining 710 ha, the water will be taken directly from the river.

On December 19, 2019, the EBRD and the Government of Serbia signed the Loan Agreement worth EUR 15 million for the financing of the first phase of the primary infrastructure for irrigation in the Negotin Region (East Serbia) and Svilajnac (Central Serbia). The investments will be realized by the Public Water Management Enterprise Srbijavode, which operates within the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of Serbia.

It was said earlier that the Svilajnac irrigation system project would cost around RSD 400 million.

The application deadline is December 2, and the details can be viewed HERE.
