Imlek has announced that the production of raw milk in Serbia has been reduced due to the growth of the costs, primarily the increase in the price of animal feed, that it is the reason for the reduced buyout from the producers, but that there is no permanent shortage of milk.

– There is no reason to worry that there will be a permanent shortage of milk – says the response to Beta’s question whether the buyout of milk has been reduced, why the purchase price has not increased above RSD 40-50 per liter for years, while Imlek’s products are getting more expensive in stores.

Through its PR agency, Imlek has answered that “the disturbance in the milk market is a consequence of the drought and the increase in the price of animal feed”, but that “it is certainly not happening on a scale that would jeopardize a continuous supply of the Serbian market with milk and dairy products”.

– The supposed shortages are partially caused by the increased demand and purchase due to the rumors that there will be no milk – Imlek said.

Imlek, which is considered the biggest dairy industry company in Serbia, where it has two production facilities, is a regional company which operates in Bosnia and Herzegovina and North Macedonia, where it has one dairy each, and it also operates in Montenegro. It buys out milk from several thousand farmers – subcontractors in the whole region. This company, which has existed for over six decades, has over 200 milk products.
