The president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, announced new investments in healthcare at a press conference and said that they were working with a foreign western company on the project of a new oncology center in Belgrade.

– It will cost us EUR 510 million in total, much more than all the clinical centers combined. The building itself will cost us EUR 340 million, and the equipment for fighting cancer is EUR 170 million. After cardiovascular diseases, we lose the most people due to cancer – he said.

He said that they were working with the Danish on reforming the Emergency Service according to their model.

– They’re the best at it in the world. We should have good, clean vehicles, but we are also working on having the response time be eight minutes, wherever you are. We should have fewer doctors and train paramedics instead, they cost less and have sufficient knowledge – he explained.
