The Institute of Virology, Vaccines and Sera “Torlak” meets the necessary conditions for the production of vaccines of the most modern, so-called mRNA technology.

This has been estimated by the World Health Organization, which also recently announced that Serbia would be one of the countries where those vaccines would be made.

The director of the Torlak Instittue, Vera Stojiljkovic, told RTS that the institution had been notified by the WHO that the Torlak Institute, that is, Serbia, would take part in the transfer of the technology of information RNA for the production of medicines and vaccines.

This technology is known for the vaccine against Covid 19, and the technology has been used by Pfizer, BioNTech and Moderna. It’s not a technology that will only be used to fight Covid 19.

– We haven’t yet gotten to know those technologies. That is what this technology transfer is for, we have learned about the effects that the vaccines have and we are all satisfied, the effects are perfect, it’s an advanced technology. When we adopt the new technology for information RNA, we will be able to do so much more. That pertains not only to the Covid vaccine, but to many other vaccines and medicines as well – Dr Stojiljkovic says.
