Gintsburg, the director of the institution which developed the Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine and a member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, says for the Belgrade daily that all the current research confirms that Sputnik offers top-quality protection from Covid-19 and all its known mutations, including the Omicron strain.
– We are extremely proud of our cooperation with Serbia, especially the Torlak Institute. Serbia was one of the first countries in the world which used the Sputnik V vaccine and it was also among the first ones to begin the production of two million doses produced so far. When it comes to Sputnik Light, we know that there are negotiations about having its production launched in Serbia as well, but it is too soon to disclose concrete details. This single-component version of Sputnik V is rapidly gaining global recognition – recently, India joined the countries which have approved its use, and there are more than 30 of them. We are convinced that the Serbian virologists at the Torlak Institute can give a considerable contribution to its global production – Gintsburg said.
