Serbia is becoming one of the twenty countries in the world that will be part of the World Logistics Passport (WLP) and the only country in Europe to be able to distribute its products under more favorable conditions, said the minister of construction, transport and infrastructure of Serbia, Tomislav Momirovic, while signing the Memorandum of Understanding with the company DP World (Port of Novi Sad) at Expo 2020 Dubai.

In addition to Momirovic, the Memorandum of Understanding which enables the joining of Serbia to the WLP network was also signed by the president of the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia (CCIS), Marko Cadez, and the CEO of WLP, Mike Bhaskaran.

– Today, we’ve done a great thing for Serbia and the city of Novi Sad. We are continuing to develop the water infrastructure, we are investing in water transportation. Thanks to today’s Memorandum of Understanding, companies from Serbia will have much better logistics conditions to develop their business. We all know that logistics is the foundation of any business, and thanks to this step we will enable our companies to have much lower costs and a much bigger market for their products – Momirovic said.

With Serbia’s joining WLP, Serbian trade and logistics companies will get access to the sector of benefits at the partners of this network in Dubai, which will help make them more competitive, resilient and globally connected, says the announcement by the Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure.

– The DP World/WLP project enables lowered transportation costs and a quicker access to world markets for the Serbian economy. We are securing a new logistics line for our companies, whereby they can shorten the time needed to transport the goods to the markets of Africa, the Gulf countries, Asia and the Middle East by 8 to 10 days – Cadez said.

Dubai is one of the biggest platforms of this network, with 18 local partners such as DP World and Emirates Skycargo, which currently offer 80 benefits, such as a cheaper and more efficient goods transport, to traders, forwarders and logistics companies.
