First Works on Construction of Linear Park in Belgrade Might Start in Late October

The first two units of the Linear Park will be located on the stretch from Beton Hala to the Sports Center “Milan Gale Muskatirovic”, and the PUE Zelenilo – Beograd is currently preparing the project documentation for this part.

If everything goes as planned, the first works on the construction of the park might begin in late October, announced the head urban planner of Belgrade, Marko Stojcic.

According to him, the Detailed Regulation Plan adopted at the latest session of the City Assembly is the basis for all further activities which will be carried out within the realization of the construction. The preparatory works for the project of the linear park have been going on for over two and a half years.

– One of the more demanding parts of the job regarding the linear park is the demolition of the temporary facilities and the resolving of the ownership issues, which is why the Detailed Regulation Plan of this area is so important. No one will be forgotten or suffer any damage, in line with the law. In the previous DRP, this area was not meant for a public green area, but the new plan envisages precisely that – Stojcic said.

Immediately after parts of the park are designed, the construction works will follow, Stojcic notes. The rough deadline period for the completion of the works is around three years. According to Stojcic, the route of the future Linear Park is a natural extension of the new oasis which is located next to Beton Hala along Karadjordjeva Street.

The preliminary total value of the works is EUR 55 million, although this depends on the project documentation, says Stojcic.

– The Linear Park is split into ten units, because there was a contest on which 55 young people worked and each group was in charge of a certain part. We now have ten entirely different, but connected, units – Stojcic said.
