The agreement between the state institutions of Serbia, North Macedonia and Albania regarding the date from which the unhindered legal flow of workforce between these three countries will be possible, should be reached by the end of the year, according to Nenad Djurdjevic from the Serbian Chamber of Commerce (SCC).

Speaking about the fulfilment of the part of the agreement between the leaders of the three Balkan countries, the so-called mini Schengen, which refers to the free flow of workforce, he said that the possibility for the citizens of the three countries to travel across borders only with an ID card has been accomplished.

- SCC welcomes this agreement as an important incentive for businesspeople working in these countries. As for the agreement on the free flow of workforce, according to our information, harmonization is underway between the Ministries of Interior and other competent institutions, and a decision on that should be made in the second half of this year, and by the end of the year at the latest - said Djurdjevic .

He emphasized that it will be a turning point for Serbia, North Macedonia and Albania.

- I hope that other neighbors will join in, because there is a shortage of labor force in the fields of agriculture, construction and textile industry. We were approached by some Italian companies that have a lot of problems with finding a quality workforce - said Djurdjevic.

He added that, after the pandemic, many international companies with their production set in the Far East, are considering the possibility of bringing their production closer to their parent companies in Western Europe.
