Memorandum of Understanding Signed with Messer and Draeger – Improved Preparedness of National Health System of Serbia

Serbian Health Minister Zlatibor Loncar yesterday signed the Memorandum of Understanding with companies Messer Technogas and Draeger Technik in Frankfurt. The memorandum aims for an improved preparedness of the national health system of Serbia for states of emergency and the challenges such as epidemics, wars and natural disasters.

Minister Loncar emphasizes that Messer’s biggest oxygen production facility in the Western Balkans is located in Smederevo, Serbia, which means that the facility produces gas not just for Serbia, but for the entire region.

As for Draeger, Loncar says that over 50 kilometers of pipes for the transport of oxygen have been installed in three months, and this kind of length is usually installed in four years.

By signing this memorandum, the Ministry of Health and Messer reached a mutual understanding that the company, in case of a state of emergency, would do its best to give priority to the valid binding supply agreements with Serbian health institutions, but not only limited to hospitals.

With Draeger Technik, an understanding was reached that the company would do its best in case of a state of emergency to give high priority to the delivery of equipment to Serbia required by the Ministry of Health, whether by delivering new equipment or spare parts for the existing equipment. It was also agreed for the local team of Draeger to be fully dedicated to giving the highest priority to maintaining, replacing and repairing devices and systems within the health system, so as to enable the optimal operations of the health system.
