Companies from Monaco Presented with Investment Possibilities in Serbia

More than thirty companies and institutional representatives from the sectors of commerce, banking, tourism, logistics and transport from Monaco took part in the seminar dedicated to presenting the investment potentials of Serbia and the development of business cooperation in the fields of energy efficiency, food industry and ICT services, as announced by the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia (CCIS).

– This is the third seminar dedicated to the development of bilateral economic relations of Serbia and Monaco, after the signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation between the CCIS and the Monaco Economic Board in the field of economy in October 2020. This proves how dedicated we are to finding new sectors in which our companies can operate – said Mihajlo Vesovic, the director of the Sector for Strategic Analyses, Services and Internationalization of the CCIS.

He added that there were around 20,000 foreign companies operating in Serbia and that 60% of foreign direct investments in the Western Balkans had been realized in Serbia.

– The sector of food and services is interesting because it is recording a surplus, and the fields of environmental protection and energy efficiency offer especially great opportunities to potential investors – Vesovic pointed out.

Natasa Maric, Serbian Ambassador to Monaco, emphasized the importance of deepening the economic cooperation of Serbia and Monaco.

– I am extremely glad that our two countries have continued making efforts to create new business opportunities and cooperation following the visit of Prince Albert to Serbia in October 2020 – Maric said and added that the Embassy of Serbia was available for all the future inquests and help to companies.

– Organic production, cooperation through cooperatives, implementation of digitization in the food industry, but also the development of cooperation in branding and marketing, sharing knowledge and technologies, all these are a potential for cooperation between the two countries – said Aleksandar Bogunovic, the secretary of the Association for Plant Production and Food Industry of the CCIS.

He highlighted traditional Serbian drinks, such as the fruit brandy or wine, but also organic food, as the products with the biggest export potential for Monaco.

– Serbia is a new hub in Europe for the development of innovations. It is well positioned and open for business, and the favorable legal-institutional framework contributes to it – Bojana Krstic, the manager of the Center for Innovations of the CCIS, pointed out and invited companies and institutions from Monaco to cooperate in this field.

Miroslav Lutovac, the advisor to the president of the CCIS, presented the situation in the energy sector.

– I would like to highlight the importance of the adoption of the first law on renewable energy sources in Serbia and the improvement of the regulations in the field of energy efficiency, which will incite investments and enable the economy and the citizens to use, produce, but also sell energy from renewable sources at a greater rate – he said.

The seminar was organized by the CCIS and the Monaco Economic Board.
