Meetings on waves - Laško thermal spa resort to get up-to-date congress center
Tourist complex Wellness Park Laško is going to get one of the most modern congress centers in Slovenia this autumn, in which company Thermana plans to invest EUR 21m.
The center will occupy the surface of 3,700 square meters, it will have 8 congress rooms and 850 seats. The European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) provided EUR 4m for the project.
Soon after it was opened, luxury Wellness Park hotel became a favorite wellness and spa resort destination of the tourists from Italy, Austria and Serbia. Total of EUR 33m have been invested in the hotel's thermal center, EUR 3.96m of which were provided by ERDF.
The space beneath an impressive mobile glass cupola of the thermal center is occupied by a swimming pool with waves, "quick river", three whirlpool swimming pools, a swimming pool for kids, a toboggan, etc. Together with outdoor swimming pools and toboggans, total thermal water surface is 2,200 square meters.
Roman Matek, CEO of Thermana, pointed out that the new wellness SPA center had won the prestigious award for the best wellness and SPA center in Slovenia in the category of large centers in 2009.
"The best proof of the profitability of investments in wellness and SPA tourism is the information on the growth of number of guests at the time of the economic crisis. In 2009, Terme Laško were visited by 132,000 tourists, while over 140,000 guests are expected this year", says CEO Matek.
In addition to Wellness Park Laško, Thermana also owns Zdravilišče hotel and Hum hotel.
