PUTIN: Nord Stream profitable for Europe

Russian President Vladimir Putin stated yesterday that the project of the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline was economically profitable for Europe and expressed his conviction that it would be completed.

– Around 165 kilometers more remains. That is it, it is nearly finished. I believe that we will finalize this – Putin said at the annual press conference.

He added that this project was useful for Europe and especially Germany and that the other option was to purchase the much more expensive American liquefied oil gas.

– You don’t have to be an expert or an economist to see that. It is in the national interest of Europe and Germany – Putin said.

He added that he expected the new American administration, led by President-elect Joe Biden, to honor the interests of Europe, which is taking part in the construction of Nord Stream 2, TASS reports.

– I hope that the American administration will honor its partners, its allies, that it won’t insist on them neglecting their national interests and that it would bring fair competition to the international market – Putin said.
