Support to production of ecological vehicles, solar panels and solar power plants in Serbia?
Globus Auto started production, that is, assembling of electric (battery) cars, and wind-solar systems in Serbia in 2007, in association with the partners from China.
The company's product portfolio includes tourist and commercial vehicles powered by batteries and solar energy and wind-solar systems for public lighting, and they have also manufactured the prototypes of the first Serbian electric vehicle.
They are currently working on the prototype of the first electric-solar minibus, while the first city low-floor bus powered by gas and electricity will be offered to the market in 2010. The same bus, but powered by batteries, is being prepared for year 2011.
They are also preparing a big investment with the partners from China in construction of the factory of electric vehicles, the factory of lithium-ionic batteries for electric vehicles and the industry and factory of solar cells and panels, as well as construction of the first Serbian solar power plant of 2-5 MW.
On the occasion of the announcement from the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning that the support would be provided for such projects through duty-free import of components, Stanko Kovačević, the CEO and the owner of Globus Auto, welcomes such measures and considers them as real, positive steps towards support to such production and procurement of vehicles and equipment that contribute to improvement of living conditions. He pointed out that such steps were insufficient when compared to the stimuli given by other European countries, but he, however, said that it was the first step that should lead to greater use of vehicles that polluted the environment less or did not pollute it at all and expanded the use of renewable energy sources.
People from Globus Auto expect that, thanks to this campaign, the company will be put on the list for duty-free import of vehicles and components for assembling, wind-solar systems and components for production, as well as solar and LED bulbs and components for production.
Stanko Kovačević also suggested that the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning should launch the initiative, in association with the Ministry of Finance, for adoption of the Government's regulation, which would free electric vehicles from VAT, since the budget of Serbia would not have any real income from such vehicles, but it would benefit from higher employment rate in the process of production of such vehicles and components.
Kovačević is of the opinion that such regulation would be of exceptional importance to big cities where taxi drivers, public companies and large companies that offer various services would be stimulated to use electric vehicles, which do not pollute environment at all, not even with noise, because they are noiseless.
At the end of the interview for eKapija, Stanko Kovačević presented the idea of formation of the Serbian Association of Electric Vehicles.
