– We asked the Ministry of Youth and Sports for the funds and the project was approved – Kantar said.
The works, according to him, entail the construction of a layer on the existing track at the Fortress.
The selected contractor will also be obliged to procure and install a synthetic layer, certified by the World Athletics, of the “spray coating” type of 13 mm, and the supplier should be on the WA's list of certified producers.
The track consists of six individual tracks with curves and eight straight ones.
The first track, of 400 m, will feature spaces for the long jump and the triple jump, as well as a complete segment on the north side with tartan, which will feature areas for the pole vault, the high jump, the steeplechase and the runway for the javelin throw. The south side should feature the runway for the javelin throw.
Bids may be submitted by June 29, 2020.
The construction of the track and field in Smederevo began in 2012, when the foundation stone was laid down by Sergey Bubka, a Ukrainian former pole vaulter. It was announced at the time that the tracks and field will be named after him.
