The new facility at BIS in Omoljica will be used for the treatment of electric and electronic waste, mostly ovens, boilers, washing machines, small home appliances...
– The output of this machine will primarily be plastic and metal and this is the commercial principle of its operations. As for its capacities, it can process 3 tons an hour, that is, 7 to 10 thousand tons a year – explains Nikola Egic, the director of BIS.
The investment is worth half a million pounds. The money is provided from Serbia's Green Fund, from the collection of eco fees. The delivery is expected in the second half of the year, by which time the facility in which it is to be located will be reconstructed as well.
– The entire economy of Serbia benefits from the purchase of this facility, as it will get a whole recycling center. With its procurement, we are becoming the only company in our country and the region to have all the facilities necessary for the recycling of electric and electronic waste – emphasizes Jovica Bozic, the owner of Bozic i sinovi.
– We are satisfied with what we saw when visiting the BIS center. I believe that the quality of the equipment and the service we offer was the deciding factor for choosing our facility, which meets all the European requirements when it comes to recycling this type of waste – says Sean Cassidy, the owner of Donasonic.
– We can work together on protecting the environment and fighting climate change. Recycling is an important aspect of it and it's important for us to build a greener future together – says Sian MacLeod, UK ambassador to Serbia.
In the past year, 100 thousand tons of hazardous waste was recycled in Serbia, of which around 6 thousand in Omoljica.
