United Group becomes owner of Tele2 mobile operator in Croatia

The telecommunications company Tele2 Croatia has officially become a part of the large United Group family, as part of an investment worth EUR 220 million.

– The acquisition of Tele2 Croatia is an important step for us all in strengthening the position of the leading telecommunications and media operator in Southeast Europe. We believe that the further investments of United Group in the Croatian market will bring additional benefits to the users who have already put their trust in Tele2, but also attract new users with the quality of the network, the attractive offer and the top-quality service – pointed out Victoriya Boklag, the CEO of United Group.

Boklag emphasizes that United Group will continue further expanding its operations in the EU states and penetrating new markets, such as the agreed purchase of Vivacom, the largest TC operator in Bulgaria.

– In the past 15 years, Tele2 Croatia has grown into a respectable and successful company thanks to the energy, engagement, expertise and hard work of its employees. In 2019, we first reached the number of one million users and we ended the year with over EUR 200 million in income. I am convinced that our joining United Group will enable not just a continuation of the positive trends we've been recording in the past years, but also help us become an even stronger and more ambitious player in the market. In its 20 years of operations, United Group has acquired and successfully integrated more than 100 companies. Each year, it also sets aside substantial funds for the development of infrastructure, technology and media. Last year alone, EUR 150 million was invested in the current operations in landline and mobile networks, plus an equal amount in TV content, of which as much as 64 million in the company's own production.

United Group is owned by BC partners, one of the largest global investment companies in the world, and operates in six countries through companies such as SBB, Telemach and United Media, as well as TV channels Sport Klub, N1 and Nova TV. It has the widest network coverage in the region and offers the most attractive TV content selection from the whole world.

With the global OTT service, it has 3.87 million subscribers in 1.8 million homes and over 4,500 employees, who are now joined by the mobile operator Tele2 Croatia.
