The reconstructed design with two griffins holding a cartouche with the coat of arms of the Kingdom of Serbia was returned to the Belgrade railway station building after 75 years, and this historically significant building is to be turned into the Nikola Tesla Museum.

The Property Directorate of the Republic of Serbia was the investor in the reconstruction of the railway station, and the job was entrusted with the Institute for Protection of Cultural Monuments of the City of Belgrade.

The director of the Property Directorate, Jovan Vorkapic, pointed out that the building was a cultural monument of special importance and reminded that it had been built in 1884, during the reign of King Milan Obrenovic.

– We are returning all the ornaments that were removed in 1945. This entails restoration works on the facades, the roof, all the ornaments and the joinery. At the same time, a project of interior development of the building is being carried out, as it is to be turned into the Nikola Tesla Museum, with 3,200 square meters dedicated to the great scientist – Vorkapic emphasized.
