From a small trade company with only a few employees, Textil Uzice has become a very successful company for the wholesale of textile in the Balkans and several countries of the European Union through hard work. Even after three decades of operations, this Uzice-based company is the local leader when it comes to design of materials, as they are the only company in this business here. Thanks to new projects, they will soon start heading the process of digitization in the textile industry.

Many in Serbia perhaps first heard of Textil when the company's materials were used for Lady Gaga's dresses several years ago. For the people of Uzice, however, this family company has always been a pride of the city and an example of how a local company can persevere despite all the difficulties that the Serbian textile industry has gone through.

At the very entrance to the city on the Djetinja, this building on the right-hand side, with an eye-catching, specific exterior, currently houses 43 employees.

Jelena Pavlovic, the director of the creative sector, says for our portal that that's where all the decisions are made.

– Designing the look, the materials and the structure of the material is a creative game. The models and finished products we have serve to show how the end-product can look. Sometimes the latest materials and innovations are difficult to imagine in a piece of clothing. It is only when the product is marketed well that its usefulness becomes apparent. Here in Uzice there are also warehouses where we store materials which are then transported to service users, to large domestic clothing companies in Serbia and the region. We have an office and a show room in Belgrade – Pavlovic says for eKapija.

The company's success is evident from the fact that they supply nearly the entire domestic market, but also textile companies from B&H, Croatia, Montenegro and North Macedonia, with materials that they mostly import from China and Turkey, whereas certain quantities are occasionally sent to other European countries. Some of the brands they cooperate with are P.S. Fashion, Legend, Amibo, Toddler and Beba Kids.

Keeping up with the times, the Uzice-based company is also preparing new projects, which will modernize their operations. On that occasion an event dedicated to online trade in the textile industry was held on November 26, titled “Fashion is Digital”.

– We are currently involved in a project which entails the digitization of operations. We are working on the automation of communication between internal associates and with clients. The aim is to automate certain processes of analysis and distribution of goods.

The state of the Serbian textile industry when it comes to e-commerce and online shops was presented at the event. In cooperation with the marketing agency Alchemy, which has an office in Belgrade, Kreativa New Formula, foreign and local guests were brought to the event. Textile companies from Italy presented examples of operations of large Italian brands – Pavlovic announces.

Fashion from London and Paris

The company went on an educational visit to London this summer and then also attended two world fairs in Paris.

– The two world fairs in Paris, which were held at the same time, Premiere Vision and Texworld, are the largest fairs in the world where the latest trends in the domain of production of materials are presented. We already had partners there, but we also established new partnerships. The long-term strategy is to further expand in the region, but also in the Balkans, where one of the sales channels will be digital – Pavlovic says for our portal.
