"Novi Sad gas" started construction of gas pipeline in Bijeljina - investment worth 23m EUR
"Novi Sad gas" started construction of gas pipeline yesterday (October 19, 2009) in settlement Koviljuše in Bijeljina, in which 23m EUR are going to be invested.
The Mayor of Bijeljina, Mićo Mićić, said that he expected that the whole city would be covered by that gas network in two years thanks to strategic partners - company "Novi Sad gas", with which company "Bijeljina gas" had been formed.
- The price of connection should not exceed 750 EUR. Complete project is worth 23m EUR, 20% of which will be financed by the municipality through issuing of building permits and allotment of the land, while the rest will be provided by the Novi Sad gas company - said Mićić and added that the network would be 260 km long.
The CEO of company "Novi Sad gas", Jovo Vujanović, who also runs "Bijeljina gas", said that his company had huge experience in that field.
- We are going to enable connection of 20,000 consumers to the gas network in the period 2010-2011 in association with our foreign partner. I guarantee that - said Vujanović.
He added that complete materials for Bijeljina had been provided, including over 230 kilometers of secondary gas pipeline with measuring stations for five city zones.
- This is very significant event for the citizens of Bijeljina because gas is fuel that everybody wants nowadays. When it reaches every household in the town, we will make the contracts that will make it possible for the citizens to pay 750 EUR for the connection in 36 monthly installments - said Vujanović.
This is the first project of "Novi Sad gas" on the territory of Republic of Srpska.
Mićić said that Bijeljina would obtain gas either through the Russian company or through connection to the existing gas pipeline that led to Sarajevo.
