Reconstructed medieval Pirot Fortress opens

The minister of innovations and technological development in the Government of Serbia, Nenad Popovic, Mayor of Pirot Vladan Vasic and the director of the Nis Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments, Ljiljana Beric, today officially opened the reconstructed Pirot Fortress, Pirotske Vesti reports.

This highlight of Pirot has been renovated thanks to the interreg program of cooperation between Pirot and the Bulgarian city of Montana, and according to Mayor Vasic, the plan is to continue the development of the fortress in the spring by equipping it with modern technologies such as 3D virtual tours and many other features.

– The project is financed largely from EU funds, the interreg progam. Donations exceeded EUR 300,000, and the works were worth around EUR 400,000 – Mayor Vasic said.
