This project will ensure further investments environmental protection given the fact that once the new plant processing start the conditions will be met to stop producing heavy fuel oil with a high sulfur content and at the same time this will make it possible for Serbia to fulfill its international obligation in terms of limiting the use of fuel with a high sulfur content.
The statement adds that the goal of the project is to increase the production of high-quality petrol, diesel and liquefied petroleum gas and the start of coke/making process, which Serbia imports at the moment.
Director of refining at NIS, Vladimir Gagic said that construction of the plant would put Pancevo Oil Refinery among the most modern ones in East Europe.
– The depth of processing will increase form 86% to 99,2% which will rand the Refinery equal with the refineries across the globe. New plants would provide larger quantities of the high-quality petroleum products made in Serbia and also bring environmental benefits.
