The announcement by the Chinese tire manufacturer Shandong Linglong about the construction of a USD 994 million plant in Zrenjanin has been noticed not just in the region, but globally as well, Marko Cadez, the president of the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia, has stated.
He reminded that Serbia had come ahead of Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Poland in the race for this investment, with Chinese delegations having visited those countries and analyzed the conditions thoroughly.
– I believe that this was almost unimaginable five years ago. Since 2015, Serbia has attracted more than seven billion in foreign investments and this shows best how far Serbia has progressed in terms of macroeconomic and political stability. Look at the lists, credit agency ratings, and you will see how much things have changed – Cadez told RTS, as reported by Tanjug.
Cadez also reminded of other successful Chinese investments in Serbia, emphasizing the record production and increased exports of the steel mill run by Hesteel Group and the success of ATB Sever in Subotica, which is now part of one of the biggest Chinese companies, Wolong Group.
Noting that Serbia is attracting more and more investments, Cadez pointed out that the investment of Shandong Linglong will equal the total foreign investments in Croatia in 2017.
He also said that he had noticed positive information about Serbia’s attempts to attract investments and reminded that, in 2017, Serbia had attracted more investments than all other countries of the region.
