Princess Elizabeth of Yugoslavia (Jelisaveta Karadjordjevic) has sold villa Crnogorka at 1 Uzicka Street in Dedinje. According to the land register data, the new owner is Princess park d.o.o. Zemun.

Its representative, Slobodan Petrovic, former director of Imlek, told Novosti that the purchaser of the villa and the accompanying plot of land was in fact an English equity fund. He revealed that Crnogorka was to be demolished and that several smaller villas will be built on this land.

Princess Jelisaveta and her brother Aleksandar became owners of the villa in late 2013 under the process of restitution, and the building housed the Embassy of Montenegro until early July 2014. The price remains undisclosed, though the initial price in the agency's ad is EUR 3.9 million.

– The price of the villa and the 1.4-ha plot of land was much higher, and the purchaser is an English equity fund – Petrovic confirmed.

Since Crnogorka is not in the best condition, new owners intend to demolish it and build a complex of smaller villas. The project is currently being prepared, and the works should start in early 2019.

The villa was bought in March 1940 by Princess Olga, Jelisaveta's mother. She wanted her and Prince Paul (Pavle), Jelisaveta's father, to move to the Brdo Castle near Kranj once Prince Peter came of age, and to stay at the villa while in Belgrade. Princess Jelisaveta spent her first four years of life at this villa.

She first re-visited Crnogorka in the early nineties, upon returning to the country following a 50-year exile. After the decision on the restitution was made, she intended to have the villa reconstructed and even invited her son Nicholas Balfour, an architect, to assess the condition of the building.
