Highway connection near Jakovo to help open three industrial zones

(Illustration) The construction of the Surcin interchange on Corridor 11 began this weekend, and the heads on the Belgrade municipality of Surcin announce that the proximity of the future highway will enable its residents to reach New Belgrade by car in five minutes. The municipality's president, Stevan Susa, visited the construction site and said that the local self-government wanted to have a connection to the future highway built near Jakovo as well..

– The residents of Surcin, Jakovo and Boljevci might reach Bezanijska Kosa in five minutes – Susa said, as reported by Novosti. – They would reach New Belgrade very fast, as the distance between the bypass route and the Bezanija roundabout is 7 to 8 kilometers, and it would also unload the traffic in the center of Surcin. This initiative has been going on for four years and it is likely that it will be adopted and that connections will be executed in Jarkovo when the construction of the section from the Bezanija roundabout to Surcin starts.

According to him, the construction of a new traffic route will greatly benefit this urban municipality and turn the Boljevci and Jakovac areas, as well as a part of PKB's land, into an industrial zone.

– We will thereby get three very attractive business zones, which is why the connection tot he highway is so important – Susa believes.
