Elektroprivreda Crne Gore (EPCG) and the consortium of Slovenian and Italian companies Litostroj and ABB JV have signed an agreement on the reconstruction and the modernization of the Hydro Power Plant (HPP) Piva, worth EUR 10.3 million.

The agreement, which will be funded by KfW bank with EUR 8.5 million and EPCG, was signed by the Executive Director of EPCG, Igor Noveljic, the Integration Director of Litostroj, Damjan Kolenko, and the General Manager of ABB, Danilo Moresco.

Noveljic said that the HPP would get a modernized hydromechanical and electrical equipment for all three generators, facilities for internal consumption and the most modern power plant management system, which, as he clarified, will enable automatic control of all generators and all facilities from a central control facility.

Kolenko said that Litostroj was in charge of delivering the mechanical equipment, the hydraulic system and the regulation, as well as the auxiliary equipment.

He said that Litostroj had delivered the equipment to HPP Piva in 1976 and that “it has been working very well for around 40 years and has been maintained well”.

Moresco stated that ABB was the technological partner, maintaining, as he said, the power transformation in Montenegro.

He said that the company would continue investing in the infrastructure in order to support such plans in the future as well.

The said modernization and reconstruction will be realized over the next three years.

The project of the revitalization of HPP Piva is part of the Strategy of Energy Development until 2030, as one of the projects aiming to, among other things, increase the energy efficiency of the existing facilities for production, transfer and distribution.

The signing of the agreement on the second phase of the reconstruction and the modernization of HPP Perucica, worth EUR 30 million, is expected in the upcoming period.
