Serbian Minister of Defense Aleksandar Vulin said in his interview for Politika that Belarus had gifted Serbia four MiG-29 planes, which will be overhauled and modernized under the same model as the six planes received from the Russian Federation.

– As a result of the agreement between presidents Vucic and Lukashenko, Belarus has donated these planes to us, for which we are extremely grateful – Vulin said in his interview on the occasion of the Day of the Serbian Armed Forces.

According to him, by the next Day of the Serbian Armed Forces, the country will have a squadron of modernized MiG-29 planes, the first H-145M helicopters will arrive, and the minister believes that “we will also get a Mi-35, as well as numerous locally-produced weapons”.

Vulin adds that the self-propelled howitzers Nora 552 are in the final stages of testing at the Technical Test Center and that he expected them to become part of the Serbian Armed Forces' armament.

Talking about the export of arms, the minister says that jobs worth USD 718 million have been contracted this year.

– This means that our defense industry is very successful and that there's great demand for our products in all markets, whether Arab countries, EU members, even numerous NATO members, but also members of CSTO – Vulin said.
