"Schenker" to enter markets of Kosovo and Montenegro
Austrian freight-forwarding company "Schenker" announced opening of branch offices in Montenegro and Kosovo and further expansion to southeast Europe in spite of global financial crisis.
So far, "Schenker" has been covering these two markets through Bosnia and Herzegovina and Macedonia and it intends to complete its network in southeast Europe by opening branch offices in Podgorica and Priština.
"Schenker" is a sister company of "Deutsche Bahn" (DB) and the annual incomes it registers in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Macedonia amount to about 15m EUR.
- However, these incomes should be compared with the purchasing power in the region - Elmar Viland, the Head of the Department for East Europe in the company, pointed out.
The CEO of company "Schenker" in Macedonia, Zoran Lazoroski, said that the effects of economic crisis can already be felt in that country because the clients were late with payments.
- Before the trade companies forward money to freight-forwarders, they rather use it to buy new goods - Lazoroski explained.
