Local startups have an opportunity this year as well, for the third time in a row, to present their ideas in the field of sustainable innovations at the local Slush contest and qualify for the ten-day Slush Global Impact Accelerator (GIA) program and the two-day Slush conference, which will take place in November and December in Helsinki, Finland.

The Slush conference, one of the biggest conferences of its kind in Europe, provides an opportunity to startups to present themselves to numerous investors and companies, whereas the Accelerator program provides them with an opportunity to enhance their skills and business ideas, the Innovation Fund says.

The local Slush contest will take place on September 6 in Belgrade at the Science Technology Park. The Embassy of Finland and the Innovation Fund invite startups to apply to the local contest by September 1, 2017, by filling out the application form.

The topic of this year's contest are sustainable innovations. Ideal candidates for the contest are startups developing original and sustainable solutions for burning issues, without limitations in terms of sectors of geography, with experience and potential for growth, skills and a desire to succeed, a business idea attracting interest, but still at an early stage of development, as well as a working prototype. The operating language of the contest is English.

The local Slush contest has been held in Serbia since 2015. The jury will select three teams at the local contest, and the Finnish experts will select the winner among them. Serbia is one of the 20 countries where local contests will be held this summer.

The winners of the previous two contests were the Nis-based company Neopix and their mobile platform game They Mean Well and Novi Sad's OrganicNet and their online platform connecting organic food producers with those who want to live and eat healthy. Both took part in the Slush conference in Helsinki and the Slush GIA program, the press release says.
