First e-car charger in Belgrade put into operation – Green Balkanica project connecting Serbia to the region

The first fast electric car charger in Serbia, capable of fully charging a car in only 15 minutes, has been put into operation in front of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Belgrade on Friday, April 21. The charger in question has 50 kW and can charge over 70 vehicles a day.

The fast charger, which will be moved to the Petrol gas station in Cukarica in a few days, was presented at the conference Green Balkanica, Electric Cars – Future of Transportation, organized by the Rotary Clubs of Slovenia, Serbia, Macedonia and Montenegro, the Serbian Association of Managers and the Summit 100, as part of the Days of Slovenian-Serbian Friendship event, held in Belgrade.

The president of the Managing Board of Hidria and the vice president of the Summit 100, Iztok Seljak, said that Green Balkanica was a part of the big project being realized at the moment with European Commissioner for Transport Violeta Bulc to the end of turning the region into a green mobility lab for the EU.

He stated that the Green Balkanica project should enable green mobility on the highway leading from Munich, through Salzburg, Ljubljana, Zagreb, Belgrade and Skopje and through the so-called Green Adriatica to Podgorica, Tirana, through Dubrovnik, Split and Zadar to Kopar.

Seljak said that the road was 2,400 km long and added that the Green Celtica project, on the regional Logatec-Bovec road, 120 km long, had already been realized, with a total of 10 chargers installed.

He said that the aim was for chargers to be installed in the cities along the route and to later establish the usage of electric buses and electric trucks.
