Courts and public prosecutor's offices, which have been moved out of the Palace of Justice, have started working at their new addresses today.

As Minister of Justice Nela Kuburovic said for Tanjug, the process of moving out was completed during the summer within the planned deadlines.

The Higher Court, the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office, the Civil and Criminal Procedure Departments of the Second Basic Court, the Second Basic Public Prosecutor's Office and the Appellate Public Prosecutor's Office have been moved to buildings in 15 Kataniceva St.

The Criminal Procedure Department of the First Basic Court and the First Basic Public Prosecutor's Office have been moved to the former SIV 2 building, at 104 Zorana Djindjica Blvd, and the Criminal Procedure Department of the Third Basic Court and the Third Basic Public Prosecutor's Office have been moved to the building at 16 Mihajla Pupina Blvd, which also houses their colleagues from the Civil Procedure Department of the Third Basic Court.

Kuburovic pointed out that improving work conditions in Belgrade's judicial bodies was one the priorities of the Ministry of Justice, considering that they handled more than 60% of all court procedures in Serbia.

– In the preceding period, the Ministry of Justice worked on gradually increasing space capacities in order to remove all imperfections and enable the hearings to be scheduled regularly, so as to avoid situations where a single courtroom has to be shared by three judges – the minister emphasized.

The reconstruction and adaptation of the seven-story Palace of Justice in Savska St. will enable most judges to have their own courtrooms and a more timely scheduling of hearings.

– This, in turn, will cause the court procedures to be shorter – Kuburovic pointed out and said that the works on the reconstruction of the Palace of Justice, planned to last for two years, would begin in October.
