Serbian design for a sheik – Nemanja Lalicic has designed the largest sports coupe in the world for a sheik from Dubai, worth 1,5 millions EUR
Nemanja Lalicic (23) from Novi Sad has designed the largest sports coupe in the world, which was officially presented at the last Geneva’s car saloon. The car has been named “stola falcon” and it was especially made for a sheik from Dubai, who paid for it 1,5 millions EUR.
“Falcon” has similar performances as “maybach exelero” and it uses its platform. It is 5,78 meters long and almost 3 tones heavy, with a “Mercedes” redesigned engine. In “Stola” company are planning to manufacture mostly 25 pieces of this luxury car for wealthy clients.
Nemanja Lalic is one of the most perspective domestic designers, which has been brought in the public attention when he won 7th place on this year’s “Peugeot” contest for design. He reveals how this prestigious Italian company “Stola” hired him for the project of “Falcon”.
- During my studies in Italy, while my friend Mateo Krzanovski and I had worked on the project of a car which we later on modified for “Peugeot” contest, one of the consultants of “Stola” company got interested in our design. After a while he contacted us, explained what a sheik from Dubai wanted for his personalized car and asked us to do some preliminary sketches and ideas. Sheik liked the designs, and therefore “Stola” company hired us for the design of this car – says Nemanja and adds that sheik wanted for this car to have a shape of a falcon (that’s the reason for the name).
As “Falcon” was supposed to be presented on Geneva’s car saloon, Nemanja and Mateo had only one month to finish the project. Because of extremely short deadline, they were given full responsibility and a whole team of people in the company to provide them assistance. Nemanja says that it wasn’t easy to be the superior as he never before gave orders, but the people he worked with were very patient, even when he made mistakes because of his inexperience.
- However, I am very satisfied with the result. Older colleges congratulated us for finishing such work in a very short deadline, and also we received great critics in Geneva. We were also given compliments from the bosses of design companies ‘Fiat’ and ‘BMW’ which is a great honor for us.
Recently, the manufacture of first several pieces has started. The interior is very luxurious, with leather, fur, crystals… With other pieces there will be given a possibility for the owners to change the logo, lights, other external parts – says Nemanja, who also represented at Geneva’s car saloon his masters, a prototype of the future car ‘BE-ON’.
We remind you, that Lalicic didn’t succeed in enrolling at the Academy of visual arts in Novi Sad, which is why he decided to study in Italy. For a while he worked in “Honda” studio in Milan, but recently he quit and now he is a free lancer.
