German pharmaceutical company, Merck, announces further investments in Serbia
German pharmaceutical company, Merck, which has been operating in Serbia since 2006, sees Serbia as perspective market which will be in the company’s focus until 2018, Financial Manager at Merck, Markus Kuhnert said.
- Current Merck’s business in Serbia is still small but it has been showing a nice growth and we want to keep it in the future - Kuhnert said to journalists from Serbia at the company headquarters in Darmstadt at the presentation of business results and plans and he did not want to reveal details.
He said the company has been stepping into the new business tage of transformation and growth and that it is focused on developing markets in pharmaceuticals such as the ones in east Europe where Serbia is one of them.
Kuhnert said to journalists that pharmaceutical industry is developing market, especially for companies operating in immune-oncology, stating that first of all large American and European companies are devoted to projects where they poured plenty of funds.
Merck is the oldest pharmaceutical and chemical company in the world, operating since 1668 and which currently has six companies. Merck generated sales of EUR 11,3 billion in 2014 and it has 39.000 people in 66 countries.
