Ecka does not want Nikola Tesla but Chinese

Zrenjanin is not thrilled with the idea of merging small airports to Nikola Tesla airport, Novi Sad Dnevnik reports.

What the minister of construction, traffic and infrastructure, Zorana Mihajlovic, announced in late August upon her visit to Zrenjanin, this week became official at the meeting of the Government of Serbia – the Aerodromi Srbije company will be set up soon with an objective to merge small airports in the country to Belgrade-based Nikola Tesla.

Heads of the City of Zrenjanin, who hosted the vice president of the Government and the minister Mihajlovic, did not say clearly what they think about the idea but soon after that it was found out that they were not throlled with the fact that Ecka airport near Zrenjanin could be merged with the new public company.

Later on, the assistant of the mayor of Zrenjanin in charge of investments, Ivan Devic, admitted it openly and reminded of the ownership structure at Ecka airport.

Devic outlined that some time ago they discussed with the people from Aero club that it is essential to solve the question.

For a few times, city heads mentioned that they want to put Ecka airport to business which they presented to representatives of Chinese corporation CNEEC with which they signed memorandum of understanding. Chinese company is, namely, interested in investing funds in organizing their cargo center although there has not been specific steps yet.
