The president of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, visited the construction sites of the Raca-Bijeljina highway section and expressed his conviction that, by the end of the next year, the section to Bijeljina would be completed. Dodik told the press that the intention of Republika Srpska was for the highway from Banjaluka to Belgrade to be completed in a period of four to five years.

According to him, Republika Srpska and Serbia are financing that section, which is on the route of the integral traffic corridor from Banjaluka to Belgrade from their own funds.

He added that the section remained owned by Republika Srpska for management and use and that it would change the character of the region.

– This is important for Republika Srpska and is the biggest investment that Bijeljina has even had. It costs BAM 288 million (around EUR 147.7 million), and Republika Srpska has already paid close to BAM 100 million (around EUR 51 million) for this section – said Dodik.

He emphasized that Serbia had fully financed the construction of the bridge on the river Sava.
