Construction of Highway from Belgrade to Sarajevo to Begin in Spring – Problem with BiH Section

The construction of the Sarajevo-Belgrade highway is to begin in the spring, says the Minister of Communications and Transport of BiH, Vojin Mitrovic.

However, in his interview for Dnevni Avaz, he also revealed numerous problems when it comes to the sections connecting Belgrade, Tuzla and Sarajevo, B92 reports.

– There’s a problem again when it comes to BiH and the way of functioning. This is a highway that goes from Kuzmin, Raca, Bijeljina, Brcko, and then there’s a problem of connection with Tuzla and Sarajevo. There’s no problem with the realization of this route, which goes from Raca, through Bijeljina, Brcko and to Vukosavlje,

For the other part of the route, to Brcko, the expropriation activities are being carried out, and the route is defined. So, on this part of the route, the property-legal relations will be resolved in early 2021 and a contest will open. The construction of the road from Raca to Bijeljina starts in the spring – Mitrovic said.

When asked what is going on with the highway section to Tuzla and Sarajevo, the interviewee of Dnevni Avaz points out that, when it comes to Sarajevo, there are different ideas.

– There is an idea to build a highway or a high-speed road from Tuzla to Brcko, which would connect Tuzla with the Sarajevo-Belgrade highway. The second option is to go from Tuzla to Zepce and connect it to Corridor 5C. As for the other part, from Sarajevo to Vardiste, the route is partially defined, but not enough has been done. The funds are a problem, as is the defining of the route itself – he said.
